Choosing a Place to Get Ready for Your Wedding
Couples spend so much time and energy choosing the perfect venue for the ceremony and festivities, but let’s not forget about ensuring you have a great place to get ready!
Here are 5 reasons your getting ready location should be among the top priorities when planning out your wedding day timeline.
Highlights from 2020
2020 has been a year most will not be sad to see in the past. But, if there was a silver lining, it was all the wonderful people I’ve met. Through the restrictions, cancellations, and spontaneous ideas to make things work for the best, it’s the faithful followers and unseen smiles behind the masks that make it all worth it.
My 12 Days of Cookies
One of my projects for this month is this fun cookie series. Not only did I get to bake (and taste) 12 new recipes, I also had the joy of photographing things along the way. It’s always great to learn new skills and find new creative outlets. iPhone photography has been great to learn, just in time for the holidays. Now let’s talk cookies.

You could use the kit as a graduation gift, birthday present, retirement gift, as a baby / bridal shower or wedding guestbook. You can create an heirloom treasure to remember any special event.

Wow them with a Charcuterie board
Charcuterie is so much more than meat and cheese on a tray. It is truly a work of art! It’s beautiful and the tastes are exquisite. While most people love charcuterie, many are intimidated by the idea of making a board themselves. That’s why I’ve partnered with Laurel to bring a Charcuterie Board Workshop to the Bellflower this Holiday season.
The Best Kale Salad You’ve Ever Had
At the schoolhouse, we get to capture a lot of those special life moments when family and friends come together. It's been a dream come true to see our venue become a gathering place for people of many different cultures and heritages. Each group comes with their own special traditions, but whether it’s a holiday party, a wedding, a birthday celebration, a work meeting, or a simple get-together just for fun, the one thing that all the best gatherings have in common is great food!
Introducing Micro-Weddings: All Inclusive Ceremony Experience
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working on putting together a list of local vendors who’d like to collaborate for small, intimate schoolhouse weddings. We know many couples have had to postpone their wedding and reception because of the pandemic, and we’re excited to start offering up an all-inclusive ceremony experience for couples who just want to tie the know (and maybe throw a bigger party later.)
Our Restoration Process
I get so many questions about our restoration process. It was a long process and we couldn’t have done it without the help of many qualified professionals. It was a lot of fun watching them bring our vision to life, but even more fun watching people use the space in so many different ways.
Schedule a Tour
One of the most exciting parts of our week is when we have people visit for tours. Not only is the process easy and fun for our potential guests, but we also have such a good time guiding them through our restored schoolhouse. It is such a treasure in our hearts, and we love to see all the ways people use this space.
Intimate Wedding 101
While our schoolhouse is the perfect place for an intimate wedding, we understand that a small wedding may not have been the first choice for many brides who are getting married during the season of Covid-19. With so many couples having to rethink their wedding day, I wanted to offer some peace of mind to brides wondering if a small, intimate wedding can really be a good start to your happily ever after.
Gardening in Michigan
Generally speaking, growing a cutting garden is simpler than a traditional flower garden because you don’t have to worry (as much) about the timing of blooms, plant size, coordination of colors, etc. The primary goal of a cutting garden is the harvest! Having fresh flowers in my home all summer long is an indulgence that I get to look forward to every week!
